With all the recent wild fires in California I have been thinking about the families who have lost loved ones as well as the place they call home. It is horrible to think about losing everything dear to you. It also made me check on my insurance policy to see if we had proper coverage should the unthinkable happen to us.
While we are covered for the structure, we can't replace the memories.
Interestingly, in the future it may not be as easy to get insurance coverage to rebuild your home if it is in a wildland-urban interface area. In California that is about three million homes and of that about 1.7 million are considered highly prone to wildfire according to a recent New York Times article.
